La Prairie is a 140 year old farmhouse which has been restored to the highest standard. It comprises large central hallway complete with gallery, one downstairs double en-suite bedroom, two very large upstairs bedrooms with woodland views, one with double bed and cot, and the other with 4 single beds.

These 2 rooms share a bathroom. There is a large comfortable sitting room with TV /DVD/VIDEO, seating 8/10 people which includes full frame sofa bed. The kitchen has been completely re-fitted with washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven, gas 4 ringed hob, fridge/freezer, and microwave.

There is a table with seating for 8/10 people and the kitchen retains its original tiled floor. There are double doors leading to a South facing enclosed garden with 7x4m (approx.) swimming pool. Downstairs there is also a cloakroom with washbasin and toilet. The garden is very large and garden furniture is available together with brick built barbeque. There are 4 bicycles available.

The main bathroom has a bath, separate shower, basin with cupboard and mirror over, and toilet. it is a large room, heavily beamed with a velux window and cushion flooring. The downstairs cloakroom has a toilet and handbasin with cupboard under and mirror with light over. All velux windows with the exception of the hallway have integral blinds.

Bed 1 has two windows and a door leading onto the veranda, has a tiled floor, and is furnished with antique mahogany bed and furniture, the tiled ensuite has a modern suite comprising bath with shower/screen, toilet and basin. Bed 2 is a very large carpeted, heavily beamed room with kingsize double bed and cot, west facing window and 2 further velux windows. Bed 3 is a very large carpeted, heavily beamed room with 4 single bedsteads, east facing window and 2 further velux windows. Both Bed 1 and 2 lead out onto a large galleried landing where there is a spacious bathroom. All room windows have shutters.

zur Umgebung:

La Prairie is situated close to the largest lake in France. The tiny hamlet of St. Helene de L'etang is completely surrounded by pine forests and 3/4 mile from the nearest main road. It is approached along a tarmac track where deer can often be seen. The nearest village is Carcans, 2.5mls away, where there are excellent shopping facilities with a supermarket, wine shop, baker, butcher and fishmonger.

On Fridays there is a small market. 10 mins. away is Maubuisson where there are fine sandy beaches for swimming, sailing and wind surfing, restaurants and gift shops. 10 mins further is the Atlantic Ocean with beautiful beaches for swimming and surfing. There are miles of cycle tracks running through the forests from Carcans. 40 mins away is Bordeaux with great shopping, art galleries and its' opera house. 20 mls to the East lies the river with Chateaux and Vineyards.

Arcachon with legendary sand dunes, and St. Emilion are within an hours drive.There are 9 & 18 hole golf courses nearby.
